ANATOLE WIECK 

Né en Lettonie, Anatole Wieck a reçu sa première formation musicale à Riga et à Moscou. Aux États-Unis depuis 1973, il a étudié le violon et l'alto à la Juilliard School of Music de New York, où il a complété son doctorat en arts musicaux en étroite collaboration avec Ivan Galamian, Lillian Fuchs et Paul Doktor. Il a également étudié l'interprétation baroque avec Carol Lieberman à l'Université de Boston. Il joue de l’alto baroque, de l’alto d’amour et du violon baroque.

Depuis 1986, Dr Wieck enseigne les cordes supérieures à University of Maine et dirige l'orchestre de l’université. Il a joué et dirigé en Europe, en Amérique du Nord et du Sud, au Japon et a participé à des festivals de musique de chambre tels que Chamber Music / West (San Francisco), White Nights (Saint-Pétersbourg, Russie) et à des festivals à Montepulciano, en Italie et à Newport, Rhode Island. Il était spécialiste principal Fulbright en 2006 au Guatemala.

Born in Latvia, Anatole Wieck received his first musical education in Riga and Moscow. In the United States since 1973, he studied violin and viola at the Juilliard School of Music in New York City, where he completed his Doctorate in Musical Arts working closely with Ivan Galamian, Lillian Fuchs, and Paul Doktor. He also studied baroque interpretation with Carol Lieberman at Boston University. He plays baroque viola, viola d’amore and baroque violin.

Since 1986 Dr. Wieck has taught upper strings at the University of Maine and conducted the University of Maine Orchestra. He has performed and conducted in Europe, North and South America, and has participated in chamber music festivals such as Chamber Music/West (San Francisco), White Nights (St. Petersburg, Russia) and festivals in Montepulciano, Italy and Newport, Rhode Island. He was a Fulbright Senior Specialist in 2006 in Guatemala.
